Yan To is an extremely talented Designer, he doesn’t like convention and believes that everything in life should be driven by your passion. Dave was asked again to shoot the “RANDOM and UNIQUE” collection. It’s the Spring/Summer collection, although Yan himself wouldn’t call it that. That is just the season he managed to release it for. Everything Yan puts together is done with the aim of being timeless. Beautiful and structured yes, but timeless.
So the request was set, the deal was done, now to put together the team. It was more or less a foregone conclusion to be fair. When people work well together and can all see what is trying to be achieved from the outset, why mess with the formula.
A complete Scorching Image team, well not quite, but Nathalie is an honorary member of the team, she is talented and a great person to boot. We love her!
So that’s that said, the team mentioned, now onto sharing with you the moments that Yan recorded during that moment where it all came together and magic was made.
Hang on, actually we’re not quite done. There are three important things to mention, so far only two have been mentioned. Yan makes beautiful things, the team captures beautiful things, so the only thing missing is the one beautiful thing we needed to put Yan’s beautiful things onto. Yes, the model. This wasn’t an easy choice, we had a number of candidates put forward from all over the place. Premier sent some through, Confidence sent some through, not to mention the few independent models that put themselves forward to both Dave and Yan. The choices; it’s always a lot easier when just one comes through. In this case however we had a great choice from Confidence and Models 1 and it was touch and go right up to the wire, the day before the shoot in fact. It’s always upsetting not being able to choose everyone that you like, if we could have; we would have. In the end … we chose …
Now, that’s everyone involved, now to share some behind the scenes moments with you.
The book will be out and about very, very soon. Once it is, go and see Yan, buy his pieces and be happy that you’re helping to keep an amazing Designer in business.
Until the next time …
Dave was commissioned to shoot the look book for the amazingly talented Yan To, a relatively new designer but already featured in Dazed and Confused. Dave brought in Noel and Lauren and Yan brought along the stylist Nathalie Hubbard to complete the team. The model was Siobhan from Premier, a young lass from the Puddle, but absolutely stunning and could definitely work it! Everything just clicked on the day and the results speak for themselves. Yan is a rare talent, one to seriously be watched over the coming seasons.
