This year see’s 50 years of the Playboy Bunny. Here in Europe there is an official troupe that can be hired out to grace your venue or event with utter fluffy bunny loveliness. Four of those bunnies came in to shoot for Playboy France to celebrate. Along with the bunnies the Scorching Image crew were drafted in to build the set and produce the images.
We started by building two huge numbers, 8′ high and 4′ wide and strong enough for everyone to interact with on the day. Framed out, covered and weighted so as they didn’t fall over or need securing at the top. Of course with these nutty girls it was always going to be good to keep someone around to catch them, just in case. (ed. But they were very well behaved on the day, well except Logan, I am sure she has mental stability issues, oh a nice bum ). With the number built it was just a case of getting everyone in, shooting and shooting images to cover the 8 pages.
Obviously, this is for Playboy, nudity required, we won’t be posting those shots here, but there are two galleries attached to this post. One with the behind the scenes carnage and one with the finished (non-nude) images.
It was a great day shooting, all filmed by the extraordinary talents of Dan Poole, an amazing Videographer and Actor. (ed. Is that a blatent plug for Dan? Seriously, he’s a nice guy and all, but please . ahh sod it, he is cool ). 4 Bunnies, 2 Makeup Artists, 2 Assistants, 1 Wardrobe Stylist and Dave Wise behind the lens. Loads going on and being done, staggered shooting and rotation of wardrobe. Everyone was busy from start to finish.
(ed. I know you said you were busy, but I found these pictures, I am not sure these constitute being busy?)
Check out the rest of the behind the scenes photos to see the girls doing their thing, Dave doing his thing and Dan doing his. It was a great day of shooting, some great images produced and all for a very special occasion.

Here are the final shots (ed. Minus the nude ones that is)
Heidi Mottram is well known for her use of non-traditional skins when it comes to producing her beautiful Bags. The Spring/Summer 2011 collection is truly amazing. The whole collection is inspired by Sea Lillies and Haida (for those of you who don’t know, that’s a totem pole by the way). They are all about the beauty, patterns, structure and power. Dave Wise was commissioned to come up with a shoot concept that reflected the collections inspiration and produce images that were “Magical” in feel as well as beautiful.
Dave wanted to use something wooden, something shell shaped and something worn, to reflect all of the elements of the initial concepts in the designs. With some hard searching a Chaise Longue was found with all of those elements. It was absolutely beautiful, with a Suede seat, scroll work and antiqued finish. All things requested, in one neat (ed. but expensive) package.
Everything from start to finish took a couple of weeks to sort out, in fact the entire process from commission, through concept to delivery of images took around 4 weeks. The brief was done, the props purchased, creatives booked and the model optioned. Dave said “Well, the bags are about skin, in this case fish, but still skin and texture. As human beings we’re about skin, lots of it, so we shouldn’t over dress the situation, it should be about skin on skin and the bag should be an extension of the person holding it. I know my Wife would never leave the house without hers and our family life manages to squeeze into that. So it had to be a naked model, we should blend the two together. I commissioned Lauren Baker, an amazingly talented Bodypainter to help me with that particular element. I accept it could all have been done in post production, but that’s not what making a photograph is about”.

As we all know, Julie is a fan of all things pretty. So imagine how excited she was when Marie Smy, if you’re an avid Rock fan, Pin Up fan you will know the beautiful Marie as the one and only MarieGC (www.mariegc.com).
Marie’s main passion being rock/metal music. Freelancing mainly for webzines, alternative clothing companies, record labels and music magazines. Marie has acquired an extensive portfolio..mainly full of male musicians with long hair and beards (ed. ooo Pretty)
Having always loved the photography, beauty and class of the women from the 1950′s, Marie decided to start a project that would give her some light relief from photographing a male dominated genre of the rock industry.
September 2009 saw the release of Limited Edition Playing Cards and Home products. Through promotion and advertising via the wonderful internet and 2 page spread featured in alternative Magazine ‘Devolution’ the playing cards sold out in just 2 days. Many home products also sold, shipped and enjoyed by people in the USA, Japan and the UK. It was a huge success!
In January 2010, Marie started shooting for a bigger project due to the great response and feedback from the Playing Cards. This time it would be a Calendar!
Marie commented on Julie’s involvement
Her work stood out from countless other artists I looked at as natural and perfect for the style I was after for the Calendar. immediately got on well with Julie, she is so down to earth, fun and also gets the job done with professionalism. I have made a great friend and business contact with her, and I hope to work with her again on many more shoots.
So, with all that said, Marie is very talented with a clear vision of the stuff she likes, we like that at Scorching Image. (ed. We like that a lot!!) But how did Julie manage to fair, was she a true professional, stale faced, workaholic? Don’t be bloody daft, Julie was the life and soul as always and we have the evidence to prove it.
So with all the fun and frivolities over, what’s next? Well, Marie has put together some “teaser” shots for us, so we can show the world what Julie and Marie have been hard at work doing (ed. mmm hard at work? who are you trying to kid?). The Calendar itself is due for launch in September, here is the official statement “The Dolls ‘n’ Divas 2011 Calendar will be launched at The International London Tattoo Convention, September 24/25/26th 2010. Julie, Marie, and some of the Dolls ‘n’ divas models will be around, so be sure to say hi!!”
Now on with the show, the teasers, these are awesome, a huge well done to the team!
Nicola Posener is a bright star, currently shining from within Disney as she plays the lead in the phenomenally successful “Life Bites“. The second season has just finished airing on the Disney Channel with a third somewhere in the pipeline.
Nicola has a new suspense movie coming out in August as well as recently featuring as the love pursuit of The Little Million, a funky little up and coming band.
Here are some of the shots we got together, something sublime about these, mostly because Nicola is just way to beautiful for words!
